HELLO.
Welcome to our inaugural program for the meeting of the New England Conference on Forensic Psychology (NEcFP), October 10, 2019 at the Downtown Harvard Club of Boston, 1 Federal Street, 38th Floor, Boston, Massachusetts. The conference commences with registration at 7:30 a.m. Breakfast will be served, followed by the morning program. Lunch will also be provided, followed by the afternoon program. At its conclusion there will be a post-conference social reception.
Our inaugural conference is open only to attorneys and paralegals, although future gatherings may broaden to others. This conference is a full day training focused on the most relevant aspects of legal and clinical/scientific issues in Sexually Dangerous Person/Sexually Violent Predator (SDP/SVP) cases.
Two hours of Continuing Legal Education will be granted through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS).
We will provide a dynamic day of training and interaction from a number of perspectives that involve the psycholegal process of trying these cases to judges and juries. Topics include:
1. Defense attorneys' views
2. A prosecutor's views
3. A juror's views
4. A judge's views
5. The science of sexual offender risk prediction
6. Psychodiagnosis and sexual dangerousness
7. The importance of release planning and community-based support services
8. Media relations
9. Panel discussion
The cost of registration for the Conference is $125, which includes attendance and meals/social events as described above.
